SATURDAY 17th MAY : ENGLISH BREAKFAST AND VISIT HEREFORD'S CATHEDRAL

A new day started very well because we discovered English breakfast. I found it was very nice. It’s so different from French breakfast. We had a lot of salty food. There was bacon, sausages, black pudding but we also had the choice between hot chocolate, tea or orange juice, apple juice, milk cereals. It was a wonderful breakfast!

Then, we went to visit Hereford’s Cathedral. Here we could find the oldest map called “Mappa Mundi”. It was created in 1290 by monks with animal skin. We couldn’t touch this map but we could see it through a window. It has to be hold in a cold space otherwise, all the things written disappear. Our guide took us to the chained library. It’s not an ordinary library because all the books were chained.

Those impressive chains were used to keep the books at the right place and not be stolen. More often there were religious books and if someone was found with a book, he was hanged in a public place.

Then we were divided in two groups to eat in different restaurants. There was a vegetarian restaurant, and a pub.

In England, a lot of people are vegetarian so we decided to eat in one of those restaurants. It was so nice! Moreover, it was time to taste typical food.
