DAY 6 - THE DAY THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN !

Yesterday was a nightmare. It was not my favourite day because of the cancellations, but we managed to find an alternative way to get home. We were able to find an alternative. The hotel we stayed in was cool. The beds were really comfy. It is sad to leave France as I don’t really want to leave. I would like to stay a bit longer or come again at some point. Johannes          Our flight was cancelled yesterday so therefore we had to stay in a hotel in Lyon! We couldn’t do anything... [Lire la suite]

DAY 5 - WE WISH WE COULD STAY

I want to carry on learning French next year so that I can talk to more people in French. Learning a language is a key that unlocks so many doors. I enjoyed the food, I loved the way they eat – the only regret I have is that is that I didn’t eat more! Joshua Burns   The primary school was really good fun as I love working with children. There was a nice atmosphere and we helped them with their English. The children were really sweet! I am sad to leave as I had really good fun. Charlotte Lamparter   Time to go.... [Lire la suite]

DAY 4 - SURPRISED BY SNAILS

I loved the snails!!! I didn’t know what to expect because I had heard good and bad stuff about them but I wanted to try them and I’m glad I did. I’ll definitely try them again. I really love the way the French eat and what they eat for the different meals, like chocolate for breakfast. I really hope I can come again next year. Joshua Burns       I particularly enjoyed the torball, as it was great to try out a new sport, although I am not that sporty. I loved going on the metro – it was... [Lire la suite]

DAY 3 - BUZZING AROUND LYON

The shopping was really good as it allowed me to discover different French food that you can buy in the shop. I liked the Lyonnais cuisine as it was something I had never tried before and I wanted to discover how the French eat. Johannes Bergman   The bees visit was good fun and really interesting. We got some honey as a free gift! I didn’t know much about bees before, but I know about their life and how they make the honey combs and the honey. There were lots of things to touch which was good. Then we had a... [Lire la suite]

DAY 2 - A FAMILY FEAST

I enjoyed going out today and enjoyed the food again. I definitely enjoyed the family meal as I enjoyed seeing how the French live. They had a nice house and they don’t always have what they prepared us. Sometimes they don’t have a starter. What surprised me was that we were allowed to call them by their first name. Also, I loved the way they ate with all the different food and they seem to have more food. Josh     The pottery with Pascaline was really good fun because I hadn’t done it for years and it was... DAY 1 – DISCOVERING A NEW CULTURE

We left Hereford bright and early at 6:30 in the morning with a delicious packed breakfast. After taking the mini-bus to Birmingham, we flew to Lyon on what was, for some, a first ever voyage on an aeroplane. Ears un-popped by polos, we arrived in safely in Lyon. All thanks go to the staff of both Birmingham and Lyon airports who gave first class assistance to our group from beginning to end. Special attention was paid to tactile demonstrations of the life jackets for students with no vision. We were met at the airport by... [Lire la suite]

FRENCH EXCHANGE

Saturday 1st October We set off at the early hour of 7:30 from RNC. We met Rosie and Hannah at ST. Pancras Station in London before boarding the Eurostar train for Lyon via Lille. A warm welcome was waiting for us on our arrival. What a beautiful city Lyon is!   Sunday 2nd October Hervé, Victoria and Sylvie escorted us on an incredible tour of the wonderful combination of streets, buildings, rivers and people that make Lyon and Villeurbanne a unique cultural experience. We all wore out at least one pair of shoes! The Basilica... [Lire la suite]

En attendant le prochain échange ...

Compte rendu rédigé par l'équipe du RNC         Affiché au RNC à côté du panneau de photos French Exchange Trip, June 2010   On the morning of Monday 28th June, passers-by on Venns Lane must have wondered why a group of seven students and four members of staff were grinning and shouting “fromage” at a camera. This was the beginning of our exchange trip to Villeurbanne, a suburb of Lyon where we were visiting a school for blind and visually impaired students, returning the visit they had paid to RNC in...
